Back in September I suddenly woke up about 2 am in the middle of the night with right lower pelvic pain. The pain kept getting worse so I took some Ibuprofen and took a hot bath to see if I could get some relief.....well it got worse so I woke up my daughter and asked her if she could take me to the ER..... By the time she got up and dressed and we were in the car driving down the road I could barely sit still because I was in so much pain. We pulled up to the ER, she got a wheel chair because I was doubled over crying with low pelvic pain and in we went...... I waited about 5 minutes and was taken to the back. The nurses and doctor's thought I had a kidney stone I was trying to pass. They gave me a morphine shot, but there was no relief in site. The doctor then ordered a CT scan with and without dye. They said if they couldn't find anything without the dye then they would have to do it again with the dye. It was so hard trying to lay still on the table for the CT scan... I just wanted this all to be over with. Moments later I was taken back to the ER room I was in.... The nurse gave me another shot of Morphine and it took the edge off of the pain but I was still crying and hurting.
A doctor walked in the room and told me I had multiple masses and it could be cancer and they were going to admit me to the hospital for operation. I was in total shock!!! I couldn't believe this was happening. My dad had passed away at the age of 40 with colon cancer and 2 weeks prior I just turned 40. All I could do is cry.
To make a long story short, I was transferred to different doctors because I also had a hernia that needed to be repaired and the OBGYN that was going to do the surgery was scared to operate on me without having a general surgeon. I asked to be discharged and I started doing research on my own for a physician to help me. I was on strong pain pills and was living with the pain. I then went to UAMS Cancer Institute and was seen by a Gynecologist/Oncologist and he was so reassuring and patient. He had stated that I had a mass the size of a watermelon off my right ovary. I then had multiple test ran and had an operation. It wasn't cancer!! I was so excited!!! But, this was a horrible ordeal I had to go through.
